About Dr. Amer Aboukasm

Dr. Amer Georges Aboukasm, MD, FACP, is a board-certified neurologist and sleep medicine physician with more than three decades of clinical experience in both private practice and major hospital systems throughout Southeast Michigan. He earned his medical degree from St. Joseph’s University School of Medicine in Beirut and completed advanced postgraduate training in France and the United States. His residency and fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital included service as Neurology Chief Resident and specialized fellowship training in epilepsy, EEG, and clinical neurophysiology.

Dr. Aboukasm holds multiple board certifications, including Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, Sleep Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and long-term management of epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, stroke, headache disorders, and complex sleep conditions. He spent 22 years as a partner at Michigan Neurology Institute, where he helped build a respected private practice while providing comprehensive neurological care.

In addition to his private practice work, Dr. Aboukasm has held senior staff appointments at Henry Ford Hospital and across the Henry Ford Health System, where he continues to provide neurology and sleep medicine care. He has served in leadership roles directing neurodiagnostic and epilepsy services and remains actively involved in clinical education, research, and patient care. He is known for his thoughtful, patient-centered approach and commitment to evidence-based medicine, combining advanced diagnostics with compassionate communication to support long-term neurological health and improved quality of life.
